Newly diagnosed infections in Switzerland in 2007 are classified into the following infection routes:

- Up to now more than 30'000 positive HIV test results have been notified in Switzerland
- In Switzerland there are currently about 25,000 people living with HIV and Aids
- From the start of the epidemic to the end of December 2008, more than 8,800 cases of Aids have been notified. 5,782 people have died of the consequences of Aids.
- In 2008, 778 new positive HIV test results were notified. Of these, 26% were women.
- Approx. 45% of all infections are due to heterosexual contacts.
